Educational Technology: Guiding Kids to Becoming Big Thinkers in the Digital Age

As technology continues to advance, so do the responsibilities of parents. The traditional boundaries of the home have now expanded. Parents of today’s young children have to serve as both role-models and guardians in the age of digital technology in the home. With this, “Education Technology” or “EdTech” is a term that has risen in recent years and also addresses a vital part of kids’ education which can be monitored through digital parenting.

For the kids of today, technology is not a foreign concept. They are growing up in spaces where technology will be considered the norm, be it in classrooms as students, or in workplaces when they become adults. Parents are responsible for guiding their children into becoming tech-savvy individuals who know how to make use of technology efficiently, and navigate the internet with ease and a sense of purpose by applying Educational Technology in their daily routines.

The internet is home to many things, but it is also home to many educational kids’ applications and media. By making use of these, parents can keep their children engaged in age-appropriate content while helping boost their cognitive development.

While it is still advised that parents have off-screen time dedicated to encouraging their children to build stronger human connection, kids will inevitably learn from and with the screens that they are surrounded by, and will need to be confident and proficient enough to use them in other areas in the near future. The task of parents is to adapt alongside technological advancements so that children will grow up to be responsible with how they will use technology.
